Father Spirit: the Messenger

And thus begins the second chapter within my Indian community.

Hi All,

Pop and I will be in the air this Wednesday, and I’m ready to begin in earnest! Really searching out Dad’s appetite for adventure has been a project in and of itself. When we were on our 9 day trip, I asked him: “Is it worth increasing the difficulty of the hard times to enable good times of superior quality?” His sincere response in the face of a recent trial was significant. When I asked we were in the cool shade of Live Oaks, their mossy branches tangled above us, but arriving there had been fraught with obstacles, frustrating and wearisome. Pop gave me an enthusiastic and unqualified, “Yeah!” We are both excited about this adventure and trust He is right: struggles don’t compare with glory.

I’ve been honing my skills on my motorcycle as another way of preparing. I’ve logged 4,400 miles on the KLR since the beginning of July. Only some have been with Dad on the back, but he has proved himself quite the Koala. I’m excited to get Dad on the Royal Enfield we will be riding through the Himalayas. For the concerned among you, know there will be a backup Jeep if he gets worn out. One day as we were riding, he leaned over my shoulder and said: “This is a good activity!” I’ll never forget how that made me feel.

I’m eager to settle back into Indian life and see the family I have there. Bringing Dad into the different homes I’ve been welcomed into and made a part of is such an unbelievable privilege. I’m always blown away by the abundance that materializes when things are shared. This richer life beckons to me. Giving a wider audience a window into this place is a huge part of my goal. Perhaps the picture we paint will illuminate the passage into life lived in the spirit. Bikku (the documentary’s Director) and I have a lot of bold ideas and high hopes. It will be awesome to see what exactly materializes and the impact it has. I’ll keep y’all posted.
